Dear members and friends,

Spring is around the corner – hoping all of you have had success with your late winter/early spring re-potting endeavors. Attached is the March edition of the BCSB newsletter.  Once again, thank you to Sebastian for pulling it all together.

Important items to note:

  • Our monthly meeting in March will be on the second Thursday, March 13th, rather than the second Tuesday. This is because we are fortunate to have Jason Chan as our March 13thmeeting presenter and March 15th workshop leader — he will be in SB for a long weekend, just for us. This is a meeting and workshop you will not want to miss.  Please be prepared to make your reservation for the workshop and to pay your $50 in advance to the BCSB treasurer, Diana Boydstun, if you wish to attend the workshop.  You can reach her at bonsaiclubtreasurer@gmail.com to reserve and make payment.
  •  As promised, members of the BCSB board are soon prepared to publish a BCSB member directory.  Thank you, members, for your patience, and also for giving us the exact information you are willing to share.  I hope to send that to you in a separate email, later this month.
  • Also as promised, we are preparing a directory of mentors – long-time members of our club who have great experience, a deep love of bonsai, and earnest willingness to assist others in their bonsai quest. Big thanks to Fran and Sophie Collins – and their passionate commitment –  for helping make this happen!
  • I try to be respectful in my communications with you, and not send too many emails.  That said, we received notice of a YouTube presentation of the Bonsai-A-Thon demonstrations on Sunday, February 23rd. Those were demos I missed, but wished I hadn’t.  Lucky for me and you, we all might enjoy some of it, and I will send that along to you in a separate email.

Did I miss anything?  Or anyone?   Let me know.

Cheers and trees,
Gwen
