Dear BCSB members and friends,
With this newsletter comes a big dose of gratitude to so many, including:
- all members who helped make our 2025 bonsai show a spectacular exhibition of stunning bonsai and a fabulous community event,
- all members who joined our BCSB family during the show – Welcome!
- Sebastian, our newsletter csar, who makes sure you all are informed about what’s going on in the club
and in the greater bonsai community.
Allow me to point out some newsletter highlights, and also give you some additional information:
- New members who signed up for the beginners workshop…our first workshop on June 14th is sold out. I will be sending an email to all of you to either confirm your attendance at the June 14th workshop if you signed up before the cut-off, or to give you more information about a future workshop.
- Promoting the art and appreciation of bonsai is our mission, and so we will do our best to get you the beginner training you need. In the meantime, please come to our meetings and other workshops, ask questions, and just get started. We’re here to support your bonsai journey. We are thrilled to have past BCSB president and very fine bonsai artist, Jeff Sczechowski, lead the workshop.
- Our next meeting is Thursday, June 26th (not our usual 2nd Tuesday meeting time). Professional bonsai artist, Julian Tsai, will give a demonstration – not to be missed!
- The followup workshop with Julian is Saturday, June 28th. There is a limit of 8 people for each of the morning and afternoon workshops. Please reserve your spot by paying $50 in advance to our treasurer, Diana Boydstun — you can reach her at bonsaiclubsb.treasurer@gmail.com and to make payment through Zelle or by mail.
- Our newsletter contains an announcement about Bonsai Rendezvous — a California-wide gathering of the bonsai community, held on October 24-26 in Santa Nella. Reservations for this annual event begin on Monday, June 9th, at 7am. Coming right up! Register at www.gsbfbonsai.org
Finally, I am keenly aware that we all receive more stuff from social media than we want. If you no longer wish to receive these monthly (and sometimes more) emails from BCSB, please let me know.
Cheers!
Gwen Stauffer
BCSB president
