Dear BCSB members and friends,
Happy New Year!! Please enjoy first first of our 2026 newsletters, and I hope you will take time to read it, as it is jam=packed full of important information about upcoming programs and events, as well as timely bonsai tips.
Some highlights:
- First meeting with Sam Tan demo: Thursday 1/22, and follow-up workshop on Saturday1/24.
- Winter Silhouettes Show – January 16 & 17 at Los Angeles County Arboretum. Club members Joe Olson and Gwen Stauffer (me) have trees in the show. If you are interested in going, let me know – I will be going down on Sunday, 1/17 to see the show and have room in my truck for passengers.
- 2026 membership renewals are now due — check the newsletter for details on how to renew. (Zelle is especially easy!)
Other information:
- For those of you who have ordered soil….we don’t have an arrival date yet, but we are expecting it in the middle of this month – will let you know as soon as we do!
- Bonsai – A -Thon will be held on February 27 & 28 at the Huntington Garden in LA. It’s free to paid club members, but you have to pre-register. Club leaders have been discussing the possibility of hiring a mini-bus or van to take club members to the show, but before we commit to that kind of expense, we need to gauge your interest. If you think you would want to attend Bonsai-A-Thon on Saturday, February 27, please let me know, asap! We need at least a dozen people, to make this a go. Also, we will ask everyone to pitch in to help defray the cost — please let me know what you are willing to pay.
Cheers,
Gwen
