Dear BCSB members and friends,
Gwen Stauffer here – newly elected president of BCSB. A big “Thank You!” to Jeff and many others who have helped me transition into this role. Please be patient with me as I fill big shoes and do my best to continue the legacy of previous club leaders to build and strengthen our club.
Thanks, Sebastian, for a terrific January BCSB newsletter. Also, please check out the GSBF Golden News (PDF).
Please Note that our January workshop is on Monday, January 27th. A one-hour lecture and demo at 6pm with Young Choe, Kusamono, is available to all, but the workshop from 7pm – 9pm is only available to 8 members. Make your workshop reservation as usual, first come first serve, for BCSB dues-paying members only. Contact and pay $50 in advance to Carol Boydstun.
Other events of note:
- Winter Silhouette Exhibition, Los Angeles Arboretum, January 18 & 19. Some club members plan to attend, and some are willing to drive a carpool. If you are willing to carpool, contact Carol Hicks with the number of people you can take and your contact info, by January 7th. She will then let club members know who is driving, and potential passengers can contact drivers directly. FYI – I am driving on Saturday the 18th, and can take 4 people.
- Bonsai-A-Thon, Huntington, February 22 & 23 – see PDF flyer for the event. Same carpool concept: Drivers: announce yourselves. Club members: contact drivers directly.
- Mauro Stemberger zoom lecture, January 27, 6:30pm, hosted by GSBF. A Zoom invitation will be sent about one week prior – we will forward when we get it. NOTE: This zoom is scheduled at the same time as our BCSG Young Choe workshop. A video of Mauro’s lecture will most likely be posted at a future date.
Finally:
In 2025, we will be cleaning up the email address list for our club newsletters and updates. If you no longer want to receive these emails, please let us know. Also, if you are receiving duplicate emails at two or more different addresses, please let us know which email address you prefer we use.
Happy New Year – looking forward to seeing you in 2025!
Gwen
